Joan was born and raised in Walla Walla to a family whose ties to the Walla Walla Sweet Onion reach back to its origin. Frank & Mary Deccio, Joan's grandparents, were Italian immigrants who operated a truck garden and raised a wide variety of vegetables including Walla Walla Sweets. The Deccio household was the center of many, large gatherings for some of the best Italian food she can remember. Joan has spent most of her adult life perfecting her skills a culinary instructor and food stylist in the Seattle area.
